I challenge everyone to get up. Lace up. And get outside!! It is too nice of a day to let it go to waste!🌞🏃‍♀️👟 Sunday's are normally my "OFF" days but I couldn't pass up the weather opportunity to get out! Usually my route outside is HALF of what you see here...but I was challenged. Here comes the "shoutout" After talking about running with @d_antolovic I told him I was just going to run my normal route...he challenged me with a new route and at first I said no way, that's too far! Dave said I could do it, and without a problem! So, here we are, 49mins. later. GUYS. Easiest, quickest, and yummiest recipe!! No-bake peanut butter protein balls🤩🥜 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I made these the other day because I had some free time and I wanted a snack! And better yet, I had all the ingredients already in my kitchen so I didn’t have to go out and get anything :) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ • 1 1/2 cups of oats • 1/4 cup of honey • 2 cups (give or take) of natural PB (I used @justins) • 3/4 cup of dark chocolate chips • 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein powder ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mix all these ingredients into a bowl then use an ice cream scoop (or hands- it’s easier to form the shape) to form the balls then place them in a container and put them in the fridge! I let mine sit for a few hours in the fridge before eating them :) They are soooo good and there’s soooo many options to add into this! 8 sessions this week, usually go for about 10 depending how I feel. I also walk the dogs everyday on top which chips away at the calories. This is there or there abouts my daily calorie intake, about 2200 when I'm trying to shed fat. Just the 3 meals, nothing too restrictive this time as I'm doing far too much fitness to be eating chicken and broccoli for 10 weeks. The only thing I eat the same of every day is breakfast, all the others change but maintain around the same calories. As always, any questions just ask. "How are you doing?" is the perpetual question at the moment. I've asked and answered it seemly millions of times in just the past day or two. We ask it because this is hard on the global level. We are trying to both take care of others and ourselves. Our urge is to connect. It's a key survival strategy. But I don't think "how are you" is helping. Here's why I say that. When I do a session with a client who is in pain, what I tell them at the start of our session is "if anything we do hurts, let me know immediately". After that, I make a point NOT to ask about their pain until the very end of the session (when I'm reasonably sure it should have decreased). The thing to remember when we talk about brain plasticity (how the brain changes in response to how it is used) is that change can be for better and for worse. Pain is a product of the brain. It has it's own activation pattern that lights up in the brain every time we experience it. The more we experience pain, the better our brain gets at producing it. If we want to reduce the amount of pain we feel, it makes sense to avoid constantly strengthening those activation patterns by asking people how their pain is (and thus, prompting their brains to go looking for that pain). Likewise, asking and answering "how are you?" a zillion times prompts us to focus on the difficulty we're experiencing. This is NOT to say that you should suppress what you're feeling - that's not healthy either. But there's a balance between pretending you don't have any feelings and magnifying your feelings to the nth degree. Try the following substitutes for "how are you": - I love you. What can I do to brighten your day? - I love you. I miss you. I could use something funny, touching, etc. Use the first one when you feel like you have some emotional gas still left in the tank. Try the second when this situation is getting the best of you. Hang in there. Improving or just showing yourself some love.
